VINTAGE 2010 - 2011!!

Vineyard prunning began on May and vintage 2011 came to its start.
 
The winemaker and viticultors got directly involved in the process where the new vine cicle started.
 
In the meantime, vintage 2010 is coming to an end, transporting the wine to the barrels and coming out from the critical part of the process.

Ana Salomó’s love for art, Enologist of the Porta Cellar

Ana has been painting for more than 20 years as if she had dedicated her life to painting.

Her profession as an enologist and her constant interaction with nature awakened in Ana a need to materialize her own vision of it.

She explains that she is inspired by primitive culture’s motifs, mainly Egyptians, South-African and Aztec (culture for which she has a great admiration).

More than a hobby, to Ana painting is an act of freedom of expression in which she invites us to know a side of her that few have the pleasure of meeting.

HARVEST

Aconcagua and Maipo

The last week of Harvest in Porta is finishing with Carmenere.

The optimum climate condition of 2010, will make the red wines have the best quality ever!!

The red wines winemaker Ana Salomó, said “The quality of the Cabernet Sauvignon 2010 will be the best of the decade”

She also affirmed that the harvest production of this year was a little lower, but had a unique quality and every body is waiting to taste Porta´s must.

Bio Bio

Carolina Fernandez referred to Bio Bio grapes as “alternative and different” and said that Bio Bio is the real southern cool valley of Chile.

The grapes were cut one month later than the usual.
This provoked that the delay of the ripe process, so the exquisite aromas and flavors were very well kept.
It also provoked an amazing natural acidity, with no need of adding.

The cool climate and the optimum conditions of the grape and soil, made this harvest to be exceptional.

Carolina is now part of the winemaking team of Porta Winery.
Her expertise is based on white wines, sustainable, organic and bio dynamic philosophy.

She is bringing to Porta all her knowledge and taking the winery to be on vanguard with exotic white wines and full organic wines.
